How do seasons impact outdoor time? How can design challenge human behaviours and play culture to promote more outdoor time for children?
by using light as a multifunctional tool that bridges the space with the user through play.
HI playground, a solution that combines physical play with interective lighting
Consisting of three main components, this playground solution provides an engaging space for physical and social play through an interactive game.
The visual identity of the playground was designed to make the game easy to understand, using simple modular frames with bent ends to indicate the spots that need to be interacted with.
The game consists of interacting with a sequence of light movements inside the playground structure.
As illustrated in the visuals above, the light moves progressively faster until it becomes too challenging for one player, thus creating the need for more participants. (social dynamics while playing)
The modular parts makes it easy to build in infinite ways with more play options and challenging layouts.
How does it work? (Assembling, parts and tolerances)
Product development stage, using the arduino tool with 3D printed elements to simulate the light movement.
