Cube is a product redesign of a heater with 300W of power. Its shape results in a better displayed component layout, improved acessibility by placing buttons more ergonomically, as well as a modern and clean interface.
Using heat resistant materials and eletronic components to develop prototypes, a few tests were conducted as proof of concept.
The old design was round, had a lack of ergonomic understanding and required a constant connection to a power socket, which limited its usability. Within the given requirements I saw potential in developing a design that better reflects the user’s needs while also being more technically capable.
The product is made up by two aluminium grids and an ABS injection-moulded plastic part. The product’s visual identity follows its function, it incorporates cubic lines with soft edges and uses color coding for buttons and interfaces. The orange button switches the heater on and off, while the aluminium switch controls the temperature of the air being blowed.
